Ghanaian hip-life legend, Okyeame Kwame, has stated that musicians who are already at the top of their careers should desist from taking advantage of the Kumerican brand for their selfish ends.
The rap legend, who is also known as the Rap Doctor, made these comments in response to allegations that he has exploited on the Kumerican brand for his own gains.
He stated that it was not right for top musicians to take credit for the work of others. Okyeame Kwame together with Shatta Wale and some other top musicians, have been critized for taking advantage of the Kumerican brand which they did not help to bring about.
Shatta Wale has even recorded a song with them known as ‘Ahodwo Last Vegas’
Many people are of the view that, since these top musicians did not help to bring about the brand, they should not be participating in it.
Speaking on Kastle FM recently, Okyeame Kwame stated:
“We need to make a clear distinction because I think that it’s been a long time that they’ve been working to get on but they’ve been unable to get on,”
“So today by the grace of God what they tried doing all these years has finally gained momentum and become global, we don’t need to take credit for it at all,” he continued.
“So there is no need for those of us who God has already given us fame to exploit these Kumerica movement guys for our selfish gains as if we’re rather the ones who are going to help them but we can’t help them,” he added.
