Two Armed robbers namely Joshua Michael and Emeka Nwanga have been arrested in Ogun state in Nigeria by the Ogun State Police Command for stealing motorbikes.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, who confirmed the arrest made it clear that these suspected thieves were arrested on Monday, 20 July with combined efforts of the police and the Ilese-Ijebu Division in Ijebu-Ode.
The commander again said that the suspects were arrested after they attempted to steal a motorbike in the Ikangba Estate. He said that a distress call was made across to the Divisional Police Officer, SP Olusesi Kayode who deployed the Anti-Robbery team to the scene.
“On sighting the policemen, the suspects took to their heels but were hotly chased and caught with the help of the natives around.”
The statement also reveals that the Police were able to retrieve a motorbike and a locally-made pistol from the suspects.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution”, the statement further added.
